Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, October 24) — Cotabato City authorities arrested on Monday night 12 suspects who shot five men while they were hanging campaign posters for the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE).
Three of the victims were dead on arrival (DOA) at the Cotabato Regional and Medical Center, while the two wounded were admitted for treatment, according to a report of the city police.
The fatalities were identified as Nur-Moqtadin Butucan, Alfar Singh Ayunan Pasawiran, Faisal Abas, and the wounded as Saipul Sapalon and Fajeed Daud.
Police said Butucan and Pasawiran were candidates for barangay kagawad in Rosary Heights 12 and Kalanganan 2, Cotabato City.
One of the 12 suspects, Juhalidin Ladesla Abdul alias \”Boyong,\” 40 years old, was a candidate for barangay chairman of Rosary Heights 12, the report added.
Authorities said they recovered from the arrested suspects two pistols, one armalite rifle, ammunition and handheld radios.
