Saudi Arabia now processing wages for displaced OFWs — Marcos

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, October 21) — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said the government of Saudi Arabia has already ironed out a list of claimants and is processing the wages it committed to shoulder for the 10,000 overseas Filipino workers who were left jobless after their companies went bankrupt in 2015 and 2016.

\”Napo-process na ngayon ‘yun (It is being processed now),\” Marcos told reporters on Friday on the sidelines of the ASEAN-GCC summit in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

\”We are already coming to the point na ‘yung detalye na lang ang pinag-uusapan (when only the details will be discussed). ‘Yung listahan ng mga claimant ay nalinis na, maayos na (The list of claimants has been ironed out, it’s already fixed). And we are just waiting for the details to be worked out between the Saudi side,\” he added.

Marcos, however, emphasized that no other details may be disclosed about the settlement.

The chief executive said the timing of the distribution still depends on the internal process of the Middle Eastern country.
