Reopening of PH embassy in Helsinki eyed in 2024 – VP Duterte

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, October 12) — The reopening of the Philippine embassy in Helsinki, Finland is expected to happen next year as the two countries seek stronger ties.

Vice President Sara Duterte made the statement on Wednesday following her meeting with Finland Ambassador to the Philippines Juha Markus Pyykko.

Duterte added that Finland will also soon open honorary consulates in Cebu and Davao.

\”Sa isang makahulugang pagtitipon, pinalalakas natin ang ating ugnayan sa bansang Finland sa pamamagitan ng pagbubukas muli ng ating embahada sa Helsinki sa darating na taon,\” she said in a statement.

The Philippine Embassy in Helsinki was among the several diplomatic posts that the Department of Foreign Affairs closed in 2012 to focus on areas where there are more Filipinos.
