Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, October 6) — Representatives of American universities will be gathering in the Philippines next week to invite more Filipinos to study in the United States.
Speaking to CNN Philippines’ The Source on Friday, US Embassy spokesperson Kanishka Gangopadhyay said the 7th Annual EducationUSA University Fair aims to inform students and parents about opportunities that American universities offer.
“This is a fair where we explain the process, this is for us to provide Filipino students and their parents free information about what is available… this is unbiased free information,” he said.
“We are here to talk to parents about what life is like in the US, we are here to talk about what US has to offer, we are here to talk about financing,” he added.
Gangopadhyay said the event will be held on Oct. 10 and 23 in Mandaluyong City and Cebu City, respectively.
He said 33 universities will be featured at the fair in Mandaluyong City and 23 will be present at the fair in Cebu City on Oct. 12.
Students as young as 16 years old and those interested in taking a graduate degree may attend the fair.
Gangopadhyay emphasized that admission is not guaranteed as the fair only aims to inform those interested to study in the US about the process and offerings that each university has. The event will also guide possible applicants about the visa application process, he added.
