Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, August 11) – The low pressure area (LPA) spotted inside the country’s monitoring system is unlikely to become a typhoon but may still bring rains over Bicol and Palawan, the state weather bureau said early Friday.
Benison Estrareja, a weather specialist at the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), said the LPA may leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility this afternoon or Saturday. However, rains brought by the LPA and southwest monsoon, or habagat, are expected in most areas of southern Luzon.
The LPA was last spotted 310 km east of Borongan City.
Estrareja also said Metro Manila, Camarines provinces, Calabarzon, and the rest of Mimaropa may experience isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to habagat.
