Senate probe into possible mass grave in NBP to start on Aug. 8

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, August 6) — The Senate will begin its investigation into a possible mass grave inside the New Bilibid Prison’s maximum security compound on Aug. 8.

The Committee on Justice and Human Rights led by Sen. Francis Tolentino will conduct the hearing.

He earlier filed a resolution seeking an investigation into the possible mass grave after the discovery of human remains inside a septic tank during the search for a missing inmate.

The committee also wants to look into recent incidents at the Bureau of Corrections that would compromise the safety and security of persons deprived of liberty in the national penitentiary.
