New COVID-19 cases down 22% to 1,302 in last week of July

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, July 31) — The country saw a total of 1,302 new COVID-19 cases from July 24 to 30, the Department of Health (DOH) reported Monday.

An average of 186 infections nationwide were recorded per day, reflecting a 22% decline from the week before.

The latest tally included 30 patients in severe and critical condition.Meanwhile, 356 severe and critical cases are in hospitals, representing 11% of total COVID-19 admissions in the country.Health officials also verified 49 deaths due to COVID-19, six of which occurred in July while the rest happened between March to June.As of July 30, the nationwide tally of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country since the pandemic began is at over 4.17 million with 4,427 active cases. Around 4.1 million have recovered while at least 66,500 died.Some 78 million people or 100.44% of the target population have been vaccinated against COVID-19 while 23 million individuals received their booster shots.
