Iris Tolenada joins GX Caltex Seoul in Korean V-League

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, July 29) — F2 Logistics Cargo Movers setter Iris Tolenada is bound for South Korea as she joins GX Caltex Seoul in the Korean V-League.

The Korean club on Friday announced Tolenada’s participation in the team for the upcoming season.

“Playing passionately fits well with GS Caltex’s team style and is looking forward to a great performance in GS Caltex,” the 2020-2021 season champions said in an Instagram post.

The US-born player is the second Filipina to be drafted in the Korean volleyball tournament. Petro Gazz Angels middle blocker MJ Philips was drafted last April for the Gwangju AI Peppers.

Tolenada was part of the Philippine national team that competed in the Asian Club Championship and Southeast Asian Games in 2021.
