Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, July 27) — Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla on Thursday said something big is about to happen in the case involving embattled Negros Oriental Rep. Arnolfo Teves, the alleged mastermind in the killing of Negros Oriental Gov. Roel Degamo.
“I expect the resolution to – at least something that’s very important to happen in the next 10 days… We expect something to happen within the next 10 days,” he told CNN Philippines’ The Source.
On July 17, Teves’ lawyers filed a motion seeking to dismiss the murder case against the lawmaker for Degamo’s killing, claiming an “utter lack of confidence to support a probable cause.”
Remulla said Teves remains outside of the country.
While he maintained his innocence, the congressman has been refusing to return to the Philippines after flying to the United States early this year due to what he said were threats to his life.
Among those the DOJ chief said he expects in the coming days is the decision on whether or not Teves will be tagged as a terrorist.
