
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, July 8) — Daly City in California, USA on Friday announced it will renew its sister city ties with Quezon City.
The relationship was formed in 1994 \”to encourage the integration of Filipino residents of Daly City into the civic life of the City, and to encourage trade and commerce.\”
\”We have long known that the key to economic and cultural growth is the support of our diverse communities,\” said Daly City Mayor Raymond Buenaventura, who is of Filipino descent.
\”We continue the effort to keep Filipino Americans engaged in our community through the celebration of our culture and connections to the Philippines, and we welcome the delegation to our city,\” he also said.
The renewal signing will be held on July 10 at the Daly City Hall, to be followed by a mile marker ceremony on July 11.
Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte welcomed the development.
\”This reaffirms our commitment to foster cultural, economic, and education exchanges,\” she said in a statement.
\”Together, we will promote our rich cultures and shared heritage, and cooperate towards economic and social development,\” the mayor added.
