Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, July 7) — Filipinos should expect high temperatures to continue as the prevailing weather system causes hot and humid conditions over parts of the country, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.
Speaking to CNN Philippines on Friday, PAGASA weather forecaster Ana Clauren-Jorda said the high temperature in the past days was due to the easterlies prevailing over the eastern section of the country, bringing generally hot and humid weather conditions in most parts of Luzon and the Visayas.
“We are not monitoring any weather disturbance so we’re still expecting a hot and humid weather condition over the weekend,” she also said.
On July 5, PAGASA said Metro Manila endured sweltering heat that reached 37°C at the Port Area, Manila.

Jorda says temperature in the capital region is expected to range between 35°C to 36°C in the next three days.
PAGASA on July 4 declared the start of a “weak” El Niño.
While high temperatures and lower rainfall are being observed, Jorda said the bureau still cannot conclude if these were due to the ongoing phenomenon.
