Weekly new COVID-19 case tally falls by 20% to 2,747

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, July 3) — The country saw 2,747 new COVID-19 cases from June 26 to July 2, the Department of Health (DOH) reported Monday.

An average of 392 infections nationwide were recorded per day, reflecting a 20% decline from the week before.

The latest tally included 32 patients in severe and critical condition.Meanwhile, 442 severe and critical cases are in hospitals, representing 10.8% of total COVID-19 admissions in the country.The DOH also verified in the past week two deaths due to COVID-19, both of which occurred prior to June 19 to July 2.As of July 2, more than 4.16 million COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in the country since the pandemic began, with over 4.09 million recoveries and at least 66,000 deaths.The number of active cases is at 6,925.Some 78 million people, or all of the target population, have been vaccinated against COVID-19. Meanwhile, 23 million people received booster shots.
