Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, July 2) — The Commission on Human Rights (CHR) on Saturday said it was alarmed by a reported hazing incident involving a minor in Quezon City and is investigating the matter.

The hazing was allegedly committed by the fraternity president of Magic 5, together with a member of the Alpha Kappa Rho International Fraternity, and the president of SBP fraternity in Quezon City, the CHR said in a statement.
Citing the Quezon City Police District, the CHR said the victim passed out due to unbearable pain and physical injuries. The minor was hospitalized.
\”The victim was reportedly a member of the Scout Royale Brotherhood Nu-Theta Chapter Fraternity and transferred to Magic 5, which insulted his former ‘brothers,’\” the agency said. \”As part of their fraternity rules, he was allegedly taken to San Roque in Barangay Pagasa to ‘discipline’ him and was transferred again to a shop along Road 10, where his former brothers conducted the hazing.\”
The CHR National Capital Region office is currently investigating the incident, saying \”[v]iolent acts, especially those which trample on the dignity of minors, despite the presence of the Anti-Hazing Law and the Anti-Child Abuse Law, should be condemned.\”
