PAGASA: At least 3 cyclones expected to enter PAR in July

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, June 29) — At least three tropical cyclones are expected to enter the country’s weather monitoring area in July, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Thursday.

Pagsapit ng buwan ng Hulyo, possible po ang between 3-4 na mga bagyo ang papasok ng ating Philippine Area of Responsibility,” PAGASA weather specialist Benison Estareja said in a 4 a.m. briefing.

He also said the weather disturbances may make their landfall in mainland Luzon or Eastern Visayas, and these may also enhance the southwest monsoon, or habagat, in western part of the country.

For now, PAGASA said it is not expecting any tropical cyclones until the weekend, but the southwest monsoon will continue to dump rains over most parts of the country.

Light to moderate rains and thunderstorms are expected over Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, and Pangasinan area due to the weather system. There are also high chances of rain over most parts of Visayas, Estareja said.
