Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, June 28) — An alleged gun-for-hire group was arrested by authorities in Aliaga, Nueva Ecija last June 25.

Nueva Ecija Police Director PCol. Richard Caballero said all five members of the group were apprehended after a checkpoint was installed in Barangay Santo Rosario.

Police tagged couple Ronnie and Myra Hernandez as the alleged leaders of the group. They were arrested with their alleged cohorts identified as Alfred Ledezma, Joey Pangilinan, and Libel Awing, police added.

The group is also allegedly involved in numerous killings in Batangas and Quezon provinces, according to Caballero.

He said the group was staying in Nueva Ecija to conduct surveillance on their target who they claim to be a former New Bilibid Prison inmate.
