Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, June 23) — The warden of the Malabon City Jail male dorm stepped down on Friday after inmates staged a noise barrage and called for his removal for alleged mistreatment and poor living conditions within the facility.
Videos on social media showed inmates shattering windows, throwing objects out of the building, calling to speak to media, and holding up signs with the words \”Ibaba si warden [Remove the warden]\” and \”bulok ang sistema [the system is rotten],\” written on them.

Dela Cruz, who negotiated with the inmates, said they stopped their protest and returned to their cells after the warden quit.
Mayor Jeannie Ng-Sandoval told reporters shortly after the barrage that what happened at the jail was internal and would not compromise peace in the city.
