DMW, DHSUD, Pag-IBIG sign deal for OFW housing programs

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, June 13) – More Filipinos working abroad can purchase their own homes following an agreement between the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) and Pag-IBIG Fund.

“To own a home in an affordable way, this is what this agreement offers to every OFW (overseas Filipino worker),” Migrant Workers Secretary Susan Ople said Tuesday in a statement.

The signed memorandum of understanding will now include eligible OFWs will be included in the “Pambandang Pabahay para sa Pilipino” (4PH) housing program.

4PH is a flagship program of the Marcos administration, which aims to build six million houses from 2023 to 2028. It also targets to generate 1.7 million jobs yearly within the five years.

Under the agreement, DHSUD will arrange a list of relevant housing programs and services for eligible OFWs and their families. A project management office will be formed to oversee the housing project.
