Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, May 15) – Arnisador Maria Ella Alcoseba on Monday gave the Philippines another gold medal at the 32nd Southeast Asian Games in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
Alcoseba bested Myanmar, second place, Cambodia and Vietnam, both tied for third, in the women’s full contact live stick tournament in the women’s under 50 kilogram division.
In the finals, she eliminated Burmese arnisador Moe Moe Aye.
Her win marked the Philippines’ 49th gold medal overall at the biennial Games.
A day before, two of her teammates, Charllote Tolentino and Jedah-Mae Soriano, likewise took home arnis gold medals in different weight classes of the women’s full contact padded stick event.
