Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, May 14) — An independent animation studio will release a film about the romance of a seafood chef and a siren in Binondo, Manila.
Created by internet-based company Studio Heartbreak, the dark fantasy and LGBT romance short film “Lovers” tells the story of Sara Lim Baylon, the youngest member of her family to run their restaurant.
As she faces the pressure to live up to her late father’s reputation and keep the business afloat, Sara finds herself drawn into a dangerous affair with a siren when the mythical creature is planned to be the centerpiece of the governor’s inauguration dinner at the restaurant.
Voice actors Vanille Velasquez and Dawn Bennett will give life to the characters of Sara and the siren, respectively. It will be dubbed in Filipino.
Velasquez voiced Valorant’s Neon and League of Legends’ Zeri, while Bennett provided English dubs to anime series, including “Attack on Titan” and “My Hero Academia.”
“Lovers” will be financed through the funding platform Kickstarter, which currently garners more than $200,000, breaching its $60,000 pledged goal.
