Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, May 6) — The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) reported another oil spill after a Sierra Leone-flagged dredger that collided with another foreign vessel in Corregidor late April eventually sank off Bataan.
The MV Hong Hai capsized on April 28 — killing one Filipino and two Chinese crew members.
The ship spilled around 30 to 50 liters of fuel and mixed substances into the surrounding waters after sinking, the PCG said in its report on Saturday.
The PCG’s Marine Environmental and Protection Unit installed oil spill booms in the vicinity of the sunken vessel.
Upon testing, there were no observed additional traces of oil in the surrounding waters, the agency said.
