Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 28) — The Department of Justice (DOJ) on Thursday called the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and the National Prosecution Service (NPS) to begin a “full-blown” probe and case build-up on the killing of union leader Alex Dolorosa in Bacolod City.
The body of Dolorosa, a labor activist and a paralegal with BPO Industry Employee Network (BIEN), was discovered with 15 stab wounds in a hut at Purok Villa Rosario in Barangay Alijis three days after he was reported missing on April 21.
\”The Department assures an extensive and full-blown investigation on the murder,\” the DOJ stated.
\”To this end, instructions have been cascaded to the NBI and the NPS to begin their investigation and case build-up so that the appropriate criminal cases may be filed in court,\” it said.
According to the department, the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the local government of Bacolod have also been tapped to aid in the investigation.
\”We appeal to the family and friends of Alex Dolorosa, as well as to the general public who may have information on this unfortunate incident, to come forward and share what they have with the Department,\” the DOJ added.
It assured that the Witness Protection Program has been alerted to protect anyone who \”possesses relevant information\” and individuals assessed to be eligible will immediately get protective custody.
