Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 27) — Portions of southern Metro Manila and Cavite will suffer from daily water interruptions until May 16 due to low water production, west zone concessionaire Maynilad said in an advisory Wednesday.
The service interruption began on April 25 in the portions of Las Piñas City, Muntinlupa City, Parañaque City, Pasay City, and a number of towns in Cavite (Bacoor City, Cavite City, Imus City, Noveleta, and Rosario).
Jen Rufo, Maynilad corporate communications officer, told CNN Philippines Thursday that the situation will impact around 250,000 households served by supply from Laguna Lake.
She said disruptions could last seven to 20 hours.
\”Nakita kasi natin yung turbidity level o antas ng paglabo ng tubig sa Laguna Lake ay nag-umpisa muli tumaas, which is unfortunate. Kasi last week, nag-improve na yung water production natin, so much so na nabawasan na yung affected customers at tsaka yung availability ng supply sa kanilang lugar ay humahaba na,\” she told CNN Philippines’ Balitaan.
[Translation: We observed that the turbidity level of water in Laguna Lake has escalated again, which is unfortunate. Because last week, our water production had already improved as there were only few customers who were affected and the availability of supply in their area had been extended.]
\”We are constrained to re-extend again the daily interruptions in the south kasi matagal linisin ang high turbid water (it takes longer to purify a high turbid water),\” Rufo added.
