Isolated rainshowers, thunderstorms likely across PH on Maundy Thursday

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 6) — Some parts of the country may experience isolated rain showers and thunderstorms on Maundy Thursday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported.

Weather forecaster Patrick Del Mundo said during a briefing that rains are possible over Luzon but the chance is low, especially in Northern and Central Luzon, due to the ridge of high pressure area. According to the state weather bureau, a ridge is “a relatively narrow extension of an anticyclone.” Regions in Visayas and Mindanao would experience generally fair weather, but there are still chances of localized thunderstorms due to easterlies, Del Mundo said. Currently, PAGASA is not monitoring any low pressure area (LPA) in the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
