
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 5) — The 10 recaptured detainees from Pasay City will face charges including attempted homicide for assaulting the duty jailer, according to police
“There will be more cases that will be filed against doon sa sampu. En route for filing [charges on] direct assault, attempted homicide and physical injuries dahil lumalabas na they assaulted the duty jailer,” PMGen Edgar Alan Okubo, Metro Manila police chief, told reporters Wednesday.
[Translation: There will be more cases that will be filed against the 10 recaptured detainees. En route for filing charges on direct assault, attempted homicide and physical injuries because it turns out they assaulted the duty jailer.]
Meanwhile, Pasay police chief PCol Froilan Uy said the detainees will face four more charges, apart from existing cases filed against them.
“Meron po silang additional na kaso. Una yung evasion, pangalawa yung direct assault, pangatlo yung attempted homicide at pang-apat yung robbery with violence,” Uy told reporters Tuesday night.
[Translation: They will face additional charges. The first is evasion, second is direct assault, third is attempted homicide and the fourth is robbery with violence.]
CNN Philippines has reached out to the Southern Police District which has yet to clarify the charges to be filed against the detainees.
Uy also identified Norman Deyta as mastermind of the jailbreak from the Malibay Detention Facility before dawn on Monday.
He said Deyta mauled the jail guard. Authorities recaptured Deyta around 10 a.m. Tuesday and recovered a firearm and magazine assembly with live ammunition.
Six of the detainees are currently facing drug charges, two are robbery suspects, and the other a car theft suspect.
The last detainee was recaptured on Tuesday in a cemetery in Pasay.

Meanwhile, Okubo said the duty jailer PMaj Jerry Sunga will face a criminal case of evasion through negligence and administrative charges for lapses.
Sunga has been relieved from duty pending the investigation, he added.
Sunga is replaced by PMaj Milan Naz as the new Malibay sub-station 6 commander.
