Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 4) — The Bureau of Immigration (BI) on Tuesday said it has deployed enough manpower to ensure seamless travel experience for passengers this Holy Week break.
Speaking to CNN Philippines’ The Source, BI deputy spokesperson Melvin Mabulac said 155 officers were deployed to airport terminals, along with 36 others who recently finished their training.
“Marami po tayong standby regardless po ng peak hours (We have many officers on standby regardless of the peak hours),” he added.
Mabulac said the BI is also constantly updating on social media to inform passengers about the volume of traffic in its airport counters.
While authorities have yet to observe a buildup on the volume of passengers, Mabulac noted more immigration counters may be needed for the following days.
The BI official said the Manila International Airport Authority already has programs to address this issue.
Officials earlier projected that millions of travelers will be passing through airports, sea ports, and bus terminals for a vacation or a visit to their provinces this Lenten break.
