Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, March 4) — The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) said the Bureau of Immigration has committed to provide additional manpower at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 to resolve complaints on missed flights due to long queues at the counters.

\”We are getting the commitment from the Bureau of Immigration to increase their manpower even before the surge of passengers comes during the peak hours of the day in order to arrest the build-up of passengers,\” MIAA General Manager Cesar Chiong said on Friday.

MIAA added that it has already increased the number of immigration counters at NAIA Terminal 3.

The agency also proposed more e-gates for departing passengers to reduce processing time.

MIAA likewise requested airlines to open their check-in counters earlier, as arriving passengers who are unable to check-in right away add to the queue.

Last December, MIAA removed the initial screening checks at terminal passengers to reduce passenger lines during the holiday rush.
