LPA to batter Mindanao, parts of Visayas and Bicol with rain

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, February 18) — A low pressure area (LPA) will continue to batter Mindanao, parts of the Visayas, and the Bicol region with moderate to heavy rains, the state weather bureau said.

The LPA was spotted 370 kilometers east of Davao City, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said in its 11 a.m. weather bulletin on Saturday.

It has brought rains to various parts of the country since Thursday, the agency said.

\”The LPA will bring moderate to heavy with at times intense rains over Bicol region, Eastern Visayas, and Caraga,\” PAGASA said in an earlier weather bulletin.

\”Meanwhile, light to moderate with at times heavy rains will be experienced over the rest of the Visayas, Northern Mindanao, Davao region, and Romblon,\” it added.

PAGASA said the LPA has a low chance of developing into a tropical cyclone.
