Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, February 17) — An American wanted in Wisconsin for molesting a minor nearly two decades ago has been arrested in Manila.
Francis Gomez, 62, was arrested in Ermita on Feb. 9 upon the request of US authorities, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) said Friday.
\”We will deport him as soon (as) the BI board of commissioners issues the order for his summary deportation after which he will be blacklisted and banned from re-entering the country,\” said Immigration chief Norman Tansingco.
BI-Fugitive Search Unit chief Rendel Sy said Gomez is \”wanted to stand trial before a circuit court in Milwaukee, Wisconsin which issued a warrant for his arrest on Feb. 26, 2003 after he was charged with sexual assault of a child.\”
However, Gomez was able to elude arrest and flew to the Philippines in 2006. The US State Department has already canceled his passport, Sy added.
