
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, February 15) — Four South Korean fugitives will be deported from the Philippines, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) said Wednesday.
The fugitives were caught in separate operations in Pasig and Pampanga in February.
On Feb. 1, 39-year-old Chun Junghoon was arrested in Pasig. He was convicted by the Busan district court in January 2020 after he was found to defraud ₩3 million (nearly $3,000) through voice phishing. Chun has been on BI’s wanted list since 2020 when he was ordered to be deported.
On Feb. 4, 44-year-old Kim Jungsuk was arrested in Angeles City, Pampanga for embezzling ₩ 367 million ($300,000) from his employer by illegally selling 1,300 tons of imported coal from Russia.
Meanwhile, 34-year-old Park Geon Jin, who was also arrested somewhere in Pampanga, is wanted by the Seoul Seobu District Court for being tagged as a member of a voice phishing organization reportedly liable for damages totaling over ₩7.65 million.
On Feb. 8, 40-year-old Park Kyoungtae was also arrested in Angeles City for illegally operating a gambling website since 2020.
According to the BI, the fugitives will be placed in the immigration blacklist, and their passports were already revoked by the South Korean government.
