
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, February 13) — The University of of Perpetual Help System DALTA-Las Piñas will be retiring the jersey number of one of its most successful basketball players produced by the school’s program.
The university announced over the weekend that it will honor reigning PBA Most Valuable Player (MVP) Scottie Thompson by hanging his no. 6 jersey in its rafters during the school’s 48th Foundation Day on Feb. 16.
The 29-year-old from Davao played five years for Perpetual under the late coach Aric Del Rosario from 2011 to 2015.
Thompson carried Perpetual to three straight NCAA Final Four appearances and was hailed MVP in Season 90.
Thompson was later on selected fifth overall during the 2015 PBA Draft by Barangay Ginebra. He has won a total of seven titles with the ballclub so far.
Thompson is included in the Gilas Pilipinas pool for the sixth and final window of the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup Asian qualifiers set later this month.
