Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) – The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) has confirmed it issued orders against Altai Mining Philippines Corp. (AMPC) to stop mining activities such as the construction and operation of a causeway and transportation of ore on Sibuyan Island.
The DENR’s statement comes after almost a week since tensions rose between protesters and police over mining activities on the island.
