Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, February 6) — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. spoke at the foundation anniversary of a specialty hospital built during his father’s administration on Monday, praising its personnel and promising to provide necessary help to the institution.

Marcos and Department of Health officer-in-charge Maria Rosario Vergeire were present to celebrate the 40th founding anniversary of the National Kidney and Transplant Institute (NKTI).

The president thanked the NKTI for providing care for patients suffering from kidney-related diseases, and for its role as a referral hospital at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“For all these reasons we owe you a debt that cannot be repaid and we will see to it that your institution gets all the help that is necessary for its advancement and its progress,” said Marcos.

The NKTI was established in 1983 by President Ferdinand E. Marcos.

“He and his administration saw the importance of building an institution that is dedicated to renal health care and management as well as the necessity of having a lead center for renal care and organ transplantation,” the younger Marcos said.
