OWWA chief denies posting love poll, social media staffer ‘reprimanded

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, February 3) — Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) chief Arnell Ignacio on Friday denied his involvement in the controversial love poll posted on the official OWWA page.

The now deleted Facebook post asked overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) if they agree that Ignacio should have a love life by typing “yes” or “no.”

Ignacio said that the social media team of OWWA will undergo reorganization, while the person involved in the viral posts has been reprimanded.

“This young aggressive, social media practitioner was reprimanded already. Good intention sana kaya lang nilagay niya sa official page ng OFW [Translation: The person has good intentions, but that person put it in the official page of OFWs],” said Ignacio.

OWWA earlier posted a disclaimer saying that posts involving Ignacio’s love life were erroneous and that “appropriate action” is underway.

“Let’s have some common sense… bakit naman ako mag po-post ng ganoon, kaya natin tinake down. What I can promise you is that the group taking care of our social media page will be reorganized,” the OWWA chief added.
