Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, February 2) — The Department of Health (DOH) on Thursday said it will prioritize vulnerable groups and health care workers in the distribution of bivalent COVID-19 vaccines.
One million doses of the bivalent vaccines will be first administered to priority groups A1 or health care workers, A2 or senior citizens, and A3 or individuals with comorbidities, according to the DOH.
The agency said this is in line with the conditions set by the World Health Organization-led COVAX Facility.
“Once additional doses are secured and available, prioritization may be expanded to other priority groups,” the DOH added.
The initial batch of the donated bivalent vaccines is set to arrive in the country before the end of March.
Health officials said they are currently studying different strategies and allocation mechanisms while taking acceptability, equity, and the vaccine’s operational efficiency into consideration.
