
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, February 1) — A magnitude 6 earthquake struck Compostela, Davao de Oro Wednesday evening, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

The tectonic quake recorded at 6:44 p.m. hit 9 kilometers south of Compostela.

Phivolcs earlier said the epicenter was 12 kilometers north of New Bataan, Davao de Oro.
‘
State seismologists initially measured the magnitude at 6.1, but it was later downgraded. Phivolcs also updated the depth from 11 to 28 kms.
