Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, January 13) — A teen who went viral for her social media post on luxury bags dished out a message for fellow netizens: “Luxury” can be seen through many different perspectives.
‘
Singapore-based Zoe Gabriel told CNN Philippines’ News Night on Friday that the term should not solely be associated with a brand’s name or price.
‘
“I think luxury can also be defined by how you feel when you receive something,” Gabriel said.
‘
“Many different perspectives come into play here. And we should all be respectful to everyone’s experiences, because (they) may not always be the same,” she added.

In a separate post, the 17-year-old explained that her family “did not have a lot,” adding that her father “worked so hard” to earn money.
‘
Despite some backlash, Gabriel thanked those who still supported her.
‘
“When I receive things, it’s just my way of showing my appreciation to the giver,” Gabriel explained. “I did not expect this to blow up. But I’m so thankful for everyone who has shown their love and support thus far.”
