
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, January 5) — Several local government units announced class suspensions on Thursday due to the low pressure area (LPA) and northeast monsoon bringing intense rains over parts of the country.

In its latest advisory, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the LPA was 185 kilometers northwest of Coron, Palawan or 265 kilometers west of San Jose, Occidental Mindoro.

The LPA and the northeast monsoon brought moderate to intense rains to the Bicol Region, Quezon, Aurora, Metro Manila, Cagayan Valley, Visayas, Mimaropa, the rest of Central Luzon, and the rest of Calabarzon.

It also warned of the risk of flooding and landslides in susceptible areas.
