The owner of Floralde’s agency said the 31-year-old security guard is currently in the intensive care unit of the VRP Medical Center.
Mandaluyong Police Chief PCol. Gauvin Mel Unos said their initial investigation showed reckless imprudence resulting in physical injuries as an initial charge, but added frustrated murder may be possible as well.
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, June 6) — Authorities are looking to file charges against the driver of the sports utility vehicle that rammed a security guard directing traffic in Mandaluyong City on Sunday.
CNN Philippines correspondent Crissy Dimatulac contributed to this report.
The driver has already been identified, but Land Transportation Office Regional Director Clarence Guinto said the driver would not named due to data privacy. They were also directed to appear before the agency’s Intelligence and Investigation Division on Tuesday.
“Nung nireview natin yung video that was posted on social media, pwede naming i-file siya ng frustrated murder due to the circumstances na was viewed from the video that was uploaded,” said Unos.
The driver’s license was also preventively suspended for 90 days pending explanation.
Security guard Christian Floralde was enforcing traffic flow near a mall in the city when he asked a white Toyota Rav 4 to stop. Instead of stopping, the SUV hit the guard on his left leg that caused him to fall. He was already down on all fours, but the driver proceeded to run him over.

The car immediately fled the area.
The driver was also ordered to submit a written explanation as to why he should not be administratively charged for reckless driving and why his license should not be suspended or revoked.
