Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, September 3) — The Department of Health on Friday clarified that there is still no case of the Delta variant of the coronavirus in Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), retracting its earlier report.
Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said the two Delta variant cases reported on Thursday were returning overseas Filipinos, who completed their mandatory quarantine in BARMM. No local case has been recorded in the region yet.
The more infectious Delta variant has been detected in 16 of the 17 regions in the country. The World Health Organization earlier said it is now the dominant variant in the Philippines.
The country has so far detected 1,789 Delta variant cases.
