Paul Pangilinan, who served as the Assistant Secretary and Commissioner-at-Large of the agency, will be taking over Cardema’s post, according to an order issued by the department Tuesday. The order was released to the public Thursday.
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, June 6)— The Interior Department has designated a temporary head for the National Youth Commission following the controversial exit of former chairperson Ronald Cardema.
Prior to his stint at NYC, Pangilinan served as a Sangguniang Kabataan chairman and village councilor for Quezon City. He was also the chair of the commission’s Global Mobility, Environment and Social Inclusion and Equity Committee.
Pangilinan and other officials of the Youth Commission were in hot water recently after the Commission on Audit flagged their alleged unauthorized extra compensation and reimbursements.
Former Youth chairperson Cardema has also been the subject of the spotlight due to his controversial bid to become first nominee of winning party-list Duterte Youth.
