
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — Candidates who filed certificates of candidacy (COCs) on Monday (October 12) signed an integrity pledge for “free, orderly, honest, peaceful, and credible elections.”
The pledge is part of the PiliPinas 2016 campaign of the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

According to Comelec Chairman Andres Bautista, the pledge was initiated to promote a fair and clean elections in 2016.
“Hindi lang ito slogan. Gusto ng Comelec tanungin: ‘Ano ba ang pinipili mo para sa Pilipinas?'” Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez added.
The hashtag #PiliPinas was also initiated for the campaign.

Among those who signed the pledge was Bayan Muna Rep. Neri Colmenares, the Makabayan Party’s lone senatorial bet.
Members of progressive organizations accompanied Colmenares carrying placards calling for genuine agrarian reform and lower income taxes, among others.
The solon, whose tagline is “Fighter ng Bayan,” also vowed to continue the fight against the pork barrel system.
Colmenares was accompanied by actress Angel Locsin — Angelica Colmenares in real life — a relative of the solon.

Bautista also urged voters to choose wisely, adding that the Comelec pledges to count votes correctly.
The PiliPinas 2016’s tagline is “Tamang pagboto, tamang pagbilang.”
The pledge also invoked candidates to “ensure the prompt and accurate reporting and disclosure of campaign-related expenses” and that they “will not employ any form of violence, force, or threat that may impair, impede, or unduly influence the free exercise of the people’s right to suffrage.”
Others who filed their COCs on Monday were United Nationalist Alliance standard bearers Jejomar Binay and Gringo Honasan as well as Panfilo Lacson, who is running for Senate as an independent.
