According to a report posted on the PBA’s official website, Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas executive director Sonny Barrios asked the league to excuse both players from participating in the draft festivities.

“In support of the national team, the PBA approved Comm. Barrios’ request asking for an authorization for the two to miss the rookie proceedings,” PBA deputy commissioner Santos said in the same report.

Gilas will return to the country the day after the draft.
