Zedd’s love affair with the Philippines continues with a bang

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — Prior to his show in Manila, EDM icon Zedd said, “I’ve been coming back for a reason. I’ve always been seeing a lot of passion, a lot of support, a lot of love.”

And last Saturday (August 8) it showed.

The Grammy Award-winning DJ took the stage in front of a ravenous crowd at the Mall of Asia Arena for his fourth performance in the Philippines.

As strains from the hit single “Spectrum” pierced the air at the darkened arena, the crowd cheered in anticipation for the international star, waving around multicolored glow sticks and creating an combustible atmosphere that needed only a spark to ignite.

That spark came as the beat dropped and the lights came up on Zedd, much to the delight of the frenzied crowd who joined in the familiar verse.

The 12,000-strong crowd serenaded the European star with his own music.

It was a wild and enjoyable party with Zedd at the helm. He kept the crowd dancing during his two-hour set, showcasing slick remixes of popular songs, old hit singles, and new features from his True Colors album.

Ever the showman, the critically-acclaimed producer stood on his table towards the end of his set and donned the Philippine flag as a show of appreciation to the Filipinos — a gesture that the crowd boisterously appreciated.

As he stepped down and finished the set, there were a few words then the lights went dark.

“We want more!” the crowd chanted.

After a few moments, the people in attendance got their wish as the star of the night came back with another song before he bid farewell.

After the final note rang out, the crowd filed towards the exits still bouncing from what they have just witnessed.
