
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) has yet to announce the Gilas Pilipinas pool, but what’s certain is naturalized Filipino Andray Blatche is among those handpicked cagers.
In fact, Blatche will arrive on Saturday (August 1) to join the training of the 26-man pool from which the team that will compete in the FIBA Asia championship in China will be formed.

Gilas is eyeing a gold medal-finish in the biennial basketball meet in October to secure Asia’s lone slot in the 2016 Olympics in Brazil.
On Wednesday (July 20), new Gilas coach Tab Baldwin conducted a workout session attended by a mix of old and new faces.
Present during the laid back practice at the Meralco Gym were mainstays Jayson Castro, Ranidel de Ocampo, and Gary David.
Former national team players Asi Taulava, Sonny Thoss, and Dondon Hontiveros also joined the workouts with new faces JC Intal, Terrence Romeo, Matt Ganuelas-Rosser, Aldrech Ramos, and Gilas cadet Troy Rosario.
The Gilas pool will be formally announced on Monday (August 3), and it is not clear whether the aforementioned cagers are assured of a spot in the pool.
