Police burn P6 million worth of marijuana in Lanao del Sur

Cotabato City (CNN Philippines) — Police and local government officials recently burned uprooted marijuana plants worth about P6 million at the Amai Manabilang Municipal Hall in Lanao del Sur.

The plants — around 40,000 fully grown marijuana stalks — were found on a 5.5-hectare corn field in Sitio Trapal, Barangay Mansilano, according to the Police Regional Office of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PRO-ARMM).

The Chief Supt. Ronald Estilles, director the PRO-ARMM, lauded the Provincial Police Office of Lanao del Sur for the operation, which conducted last July 21.

Also part of the operations were members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.

Authorities have yet to identify the cultivator of the plantation.
