NBA Free Agency: Kings pick up Seth Curry; Spurs try out Jimmer

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — The Sacramento Kings picked up National Basketball Association Development League (NBA D-League) standout Seth Curry on a two-year deal, while the San Antonio Spurs have offered former college hotshot Jimmer Fredette a “training camp deal” to give him a chance to break into the roster.

According to reports, Seth Curry, the younger brother of reigning NBA MVP Steph Curry, signed a deal reportedly worth $2 million for two years with the Kings.

Curry’s signing comes after an impressive showing with the New Orleans Pelicans in the Las Vegas Summer League, where he averaged 24.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 2.7 assists in six games.

The former Duke guard went undrafted in the 2013 NBA Draft and spent the last two years honing his craft with the Santa Cruz Warriors and Erie BayHawks in the NBA D-League.

The Spurs remain active in the preseason with the signing of former Brigham Young University star Jimmer Fredette to what basketball insider Adrian Wojnarowski called a “training camp deal.”

After being selected 10th in the 2011 NBA Draft, the veteran sharpshooter couldn’t build on his strong showing at the collegiate level and found himself suiting up for the Sacramento Kings, Chicago Bulls, and the New Orleans Pelicans in just four years.
