Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — After trading for Lance Stephenson and re-signing DeAndre Jordan, the Los Angeles Clippers made another splash in the National Basketball Association (NBA) offseason with the acquisition of forward Josh Smith.
ESPN’s Chris Broussard reported that Smith will join the Clippers from the Houston Rockets on a one-year deal.
According to basketball insider David Aldridge, Smith had bigger and better offers but opted to take the Clippers’ one-year deal at the veteran’s minimum.

In just half a season with the Rockets, Smith averaged 12.4 points, 6.4 rebounds, 3.3 assists last season.
Smith issued a statement soon after the move, praising the Rockets’ organization and fans.
“Over my pro career I have spent a lot of time in Houston with friends and family. Over the past year, while with the Rockets, the team, fans and people of Houston have made it a second home,” Smith said.
“I want to express my appreciation to everyone for the support and kindness they have showed me and my family while I have been here. Thank you!”
