Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — A picture paints a thousand words, but an “emoji” probably paints less and still can leave quite the impact.
After news broke out that National Basketball Association (NBA) free agent DeAndre Jordan is considering spurning the Dallas Mavericks for a return to the Los Angeles Clippers, players from both ball clubs took to social media to fight for the coveted center using only “emojis.”
Mavericks forward Chandler Parsons was the firestarter in what turned out to be an entertaining and well followed exchange.

Clippers guard J.J. Redick took notice and refused to take it lying down, as he posted a reference to his upcoming meeting with DeAndre.

Blake Griffin chimed in soon after.

Even All-Star guard Chris Paul, who was last seen riding a banana boat with LeBron James and Dwyane Wade, gave his two cents.

It took awhile for other athletes to catch on with what was going on, but as soon as they figured it out they couldn’t help but join in on the fun themselves.

In an effort to convince Jordan to stay in Los Angeles, the Clippers recruited the help of his former teammates to participate in a meeting in Jordan’s home.
And it seems that Griffin broke away from the trend and took more obvious means to convince Jordan to stay.
