Yolanda survivors in Negros Occidental get cash aid

Bacolod City (CNN Philippines) — Around 15,163 survivors of Super Typhoon Yolanda in Negros Occidental, have been given a total of P265.1 million in Emergency Shelter Assistance (ESA), to allow them to rebuild their houses and start a living.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) released the assistance to survivors in the cities of Sagay and Victorias and in the towns of EB Magalona and Manapla as of June.

May Castillo, DSWD Region 6 regional information officer, said beneficiaries whose houses were destroyed received P30,000, while those whose houses were damaged by the typhoon got P10,000.

About P490.1 million in cash assistance will be distributed in July to the remaining survivors in cities of Sagay, Victorias, Cadiz, Silay, and Escalante.
