PBA: San Miguel Beer trounces Hotshots, extends win streak to three games

(CNN Philippines) — San Miguel Beer continued to step on the gas, stretching its winning streak to three with a 100-89 drubbing of the Star Hotshots in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Governors’ Cup at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum Sunday (May 24).

Behind import Arizona Reid and June Mar Fajardo, the Beermen racked up their third straight win in five outings.

Reid dropped 29 points, while Fajardo threw his weight around, raking in 21 points on top of 20 rebounds and two blocks for the streaking Beermen.

“We’re lucky we won. Credit to the players because they are focused. We’re now the same page now,” said San Miguel coach Leo Austria, who led the Beermen to the Philippine Cup championship.

“Ine-execute talaga nila mga dapat gawin. Focused na talaga kami.”

Chris Ross, Alex Cabagnot, and Arwind Santos chipped in 14, 13, and 12 points, respectively for the Beermen, who dealt Star its third straight loss.

The Hotshots were paced by import Marqus Blakely, who scattered 29 points to go with 15 rebounds, four assists, two steals, and two blocks.
